This book was 40% done in 20 minutes and I kept waiting on a storyline of interest, but it just didn't happen . .. It felt like there were misssing chapters in between the ones I read. I gave up and just didn't finish it. I was really disappointed in it. SorryProduct details

This book is a short uplifting feel-good read. It has a good storyline and unique setting..... A great way to pass time!
This is a marvelous short story by Karen Cogan. However, I also understand why another reviewer felt disappointed in it. / do not make it clear that this is a SHORT story. It is published under a group that limits the length of authors' manuscripts. Readers who do not realize this are bound to be disappointed because this is an engaging book, and I really wanted more too! I quickly became interested in the young lady who left San Francisco to journey to Alaska and in the people she met as she settled into her new life. I would love to have more of the story. After finishing the book, I felt as though I had barely met a fascinating person and wanted to visit her again. Mrs, Cogan, if you ever read these reviews, I loved this book, but want more of it!
In a short book, the author takes the reader into the life of a young woman's journey into the rugged 1890's Alaska Gold Rush. Right off the scene is set with great and accurate description of both the beauty and rugged wilderness of Alaska as well as an interesting depiction of life's ways, wording, manners. dress, etc. during those long ago days. Historically solid Other characters are introduced in a believable and entertaining way. Quickly into the story, there are two plots set up and entertwining through the story of the hardworking young woman. The author brings along the reader to the central point of what might be treasure for the young woman. Lastly the reader gets to be involved in the characters' lives as the story comes to it's conclusion. I find the book to be both reader involving and historically enlightening - thoroughly a good read.
